Harness the power of your Divine Feminine cyclical nature. As a cyclical being, one who flows with Mother Nature, you have inner (Menstrual) and outer (Seasonal, Astrological, etc.) rhythms that can guide you through an intentional life. If you're already working with a Bleed List (A Better Feeling To-Do List), this will be an added tool. To begin, circle the inner + outer rhythms you are experiencing today on the chart below. This practice draws you into the present moment, allows you to weigh all energies and helps you decide what is best for you. Example: You may typically feel a lot of energy and extroversion while Ovulating so you plan a big party for that time in your cycle. When the day comes, you unexpectedly dread a house full of people and want to curl up on the couch. This may be because it is a New Moon and in the middle of Winter. Becoming aware of how your Menstrual Cycle feels through the changing seasons and astrological events will help you plan for the most inspired action. Example: You know you like to slow down and do less before you bleed but this month, you feel a surge of clarity and energy to finish a project. This may be due to the Full Moon's energy. Example: My Moon Magic is a business aligned with it's creator's inner and outer rhythms. Fall (Luteal) and Winter (Menstrual) may be the busiest online shopping times of the year with the holidays but just as it does not feel good to work hard before her period, it does not feel good to work more this time of year. This is a time of reflection and the deep internal awareness that births new offerings in the Spring (Follicular). Read more about the My Moon Magic Menstrual Disclaimer in the FAQ Section. If you are not currently bleeding, align with the lunar and seasonal energy.- If you are in your bleeding years and experience infrequent or irregular menstrual cycles. - If you have stepped into your royal Queendom through Menopause and are no longer bleeding. Align with the moon. See how each moon phase can feel different for you through the seasons and astrological events. Learn more about the energy of each phase.Explore the My Moon Magic Women's Health Blog to learn about the distinct energy of your inner + outer rhythms and why taking this all into account will help you feel more empowered and in tune with your life. "It's all new knowledge to me and I looooooove it! I love learning about my body and how it works. No one taught me about my menstrual cycle when I was growing so I've always hated it. I'm just learning to not hate my body now from you." - Amanda I always highly recommend the books Woman Code by Alissa Vitti and Wild Power by Sjanie Hugo Wurlitzer, Alexandra Pope

Follow on social media for daily inspiration.Live in the flow - do what feels right, when it feels right - for the most inspired outcomes.Learn how to organize your to-do list by following the Moon or your Menstrual Cycle, its called a Bleed List! To use a Bleed List, first become acquainted with your inner and outer cycles, highlighted on The My Moon Magic Women's Health Blog and in The Manifesting with the Moon Guide. Checking things off a To-Do List can feel so good...but does that looming list of a thousand "shoulds" stress you out when you're just not in the mood? For Divine Feminine and cyclical beings, the practice of keeping a Bleed List is a much more efficient way to follow inspiration. Before you begin - If you are in your bleeding years, prioritize your inner, menstrual rhythm over the outer, lunar phases. Feel into where you are in your menstrual cycle and then take into account the energy of the moon. For example, Luteal Phase can feel like a time of low energy and detachment but the Full Moon may be shining bright, giving you a little more energy to complete things later into your cycle than if you were in your Luteal Phase with the New Moon. |
Self love coach, Joelle Page, customized The Menstrual Mala to make it her own. I am continually amazed by the intentional women I get to co-create with! |
Here is her incredible menstrual story...
"I went 12 years without a period. My birth control at the time stopped me from having it. Society and the messages I received from the world was that it was a good thing to not have a period. That it is dirty, undesirable and I shouldn’t want one.
Nearly three years ago I went to Bali and in a women’s circle I learned the power of my cycle and the wisdom I carry in my womb. I heard a calling to welcome her back and she came. I had the IUD removed and my period came back. I listened as she whispered 'Slow down, I want to show you how to receive and be creative in your own right...' I felt like my womanhood was complete and I was finally allowed to be proud, open and talk about the wisdom we receive from living in alignment with, acceptance of, and even celebrating our cycle.
As I near 45 this year, my period has disappeared again. I feel a season ending and a new one about to begin. There is a new feeling rising as I make room for more growth and surrender into what is happening in my body.. She has loved and supported me through so much. I haven’t always treated her with love and respect. I haven’t always spoken lovingly to her. I haven’t always listened to what she needed... But I listen now for what wisdom comes to me by way of patience, acceptance and grace. I have no control. I need only listen. I need only speak from my heart and respect what comes back with open mind.
This body has been a safe harbor for me through thick and thin. It’s time for me to rest. And time to listen.
I am home. And I love me. *ALL OF ME*

My Moon Magic supports all things Meditation + Women's Health. This interesting topic is about a life-changing question that was normalized for me in a course called Embody Your Flow by Cree Cox. At the beginning of our weekly menstrual cycle education classes, each woman would share...
Vulnerable, right?! But so very liberating and educational. I don't regularly ask women about their cervical positioning or fluid but I do ask all of my friends and clients "Where are you in your cycle?" and share where I am in mine.
- What day of her menstrual cycle she was on.
- Her cervical positioning.
- Her cervical fluid.

"If you want to understand women, learn to understand the menstrual cycle. Let's face it, women are governed by hormones and this is not a bad thing!
It is actually quite BEAUTIFUL and PROFOUND.
There is a common misunderstanding that women are 'unpredictable' or 'unreliable' because of this. While I can see why that is commonly misunderstood, it is not ultimate Truth, with a capital T. It comes from a deeper underlying problem, we have not been taught about a woman's cyclical nature and we live in a culture that does not
support it." - Cree Cox, Embody Your Flow

Here's why...
There was a woman in the class who seemed like a different person each week. One week she was energetic, hyper and silly. The next she seemed introverted and quiet. Since she was sharing where she was in her menstrual cycle, I was able to identify how her personality shifted with her hormones. It was amazing! It was the first time that I got to SEE and give myself permission to BE the multifaceted cyclical being that I am learning to be. When I shared this insight with her, it was even more beautiful. She expressed that she had struggled with feeling like many different people in one body and with upholding who other people expected her to be. Ohhhh freedom though Menstrual Cycle Awareness!
For women in their bleeding years, each phase of the menstrual cycle has a different energy, strength and nuance that we can honor for each other. Check out the overview of each phase below to get a better idea of what you and your friends, colleagues and family members may be better at in certain phases.

For example: If a friend asks for advice in her Luteal Phase, I will tread lightly on criticism as her own inner critic is already cranking and this can be a wonderful time to reassess things but not necessarily understand what the next step is just yet.
Another example: I may meet with a more extroverted friend when she is nearing her Menstrual Phase so that her Ovulation energy doesn't overwhelm me and I can access the more introverted and intuitive experience of her.

The Menstrual Phase: Rest
- Lasts 3-7 Days.
- Begins when you start bleeding. That is Day 1 of your new cycle.
- You may want to detach, surrender, restore, receive, journal and vision.
- You'll become aware of what's not working in Luteal and surrender to that here in order to plant seeds of intention for your next cycle.
- Make a Bleed List where you'll take note of the things you don't want to do right now but will utilize Ovulation + Luteal energy for this cycle.
The Follicular Phase: Plan + Experiment
- Lasts 7 - 10 Days.
- Begins when you stop bleeding.
- Your hormones very slowly increase to support Ovulation.
- You may feel like a newly-hatched chick; tender, innocent, curious and playful.
- Your instinct to connect with others in renewed. Experiment with new ideas here.
Ovulation: Open Up
- Last 3-4 Days.
- Begins with a dramatic rise in Estrogen, followed by Lutenizing Hormone.
- Feeling social and energetic, certainly outwardly focused. Your charm is turned ON!
- Be in the flow here, follow your intuition and attract all that you desire.
The Luteal Phase: Get things done + Release
- Lasts 10-14 Days between Ovulation and Menstruation.
- Your Estrogen, Progesterone and Testosterone are at their highest before dropping to their lowest before you bleed. (This is where my Healthy Period Brownies come to the rescue)
- You may feel a natural desire to finish up projects, turn inward and start to nest.
- The second half of this phase is called Deep Luteal and feels like the urge to separate from all the to-dos. This is when the 'inner critic' is the loudest to clean up lose ends, you become the truth teller and much more discerning.
@Tantric.Alchemy says "What arises for you just before you bleed (physical pain, emotional chaos) are not to be ignored or masked over with a pain killer or avoidant strategy. They need to be felt fully & wholly." After reading the book, Woman Code by Alisa Vitti, I realized that as women, we are not meant to be in pain and suffer. These symptoms are our bodies speaking to us, asking for things to be different. The book Wild Power by Alexandra Pope and Sjanie Hugo Wurlitzer further empowers women in every phase of their menstrual cycle - check them out and let me know if you have any questions.
Demystifying and empowering our cyclical nature in conversation flows easily for me now that I'm surrounded by others who are normalizing the discussion. I hope to shine light on that for you as well. This is only an overview; for more information, read the books Woman Code and Wild Power. Please comment or connect with any questions.

Did you know that you can completely heal the negative side effects of PMS by eating according to your menstrual cycle?
The very accessible book, Woman Code, teaches just that and CHANGED MY LIFE! The author, Alisa Vitti, keeps it real...Drink too much on New Years? Overdose on birthday cake at the office? Eat lots of fiber and take B vitamins the next day!
If you are craving sweets before you bleed,
there’s a biological reason.
So . . . make Healthy Period Brownies!
Vegan

Refined Sugar Free
Support your Luteal Phase (the phase between Ovulation and Menstruation) with foods rich in B Vitamins for progesterone production, Calcium + Magnesium (leafy greens) and Fiber. Combined, these foods stave off sugar cravings, fluid retention and support healthy elimination.
When baked, sweet potatoes get a boost of healthy, natural sugars to help with the dip in estrogen that occurs in the second half of the luteal phase. That dip is what contributes to irritability, especially if your desire to separate is not honored. Complex carbohydrates also stabilize serotonin and dopamine levels in the brain to prevent mood swings.
Fiber-packed quinoa helps your liver and large intestine flush estrogen more efficiently through the bowel, mitigating the effects of estrogen dominance.
These brownies are also packed with protein and healthy fats, no one would bat an eye if you eat them for breakfast.
